Velvet Hot Chocolatt

During our first two years, Chocolatt ...from Belgium has been establishing itself as "the" place for the best chocolates on the West Coast. The Anouc assortment is a big hit, and low-carb seekers appreciate our sugar free varieties.

So what's new at the Café? For starters, an out-of-this-world hot chocolate experience. Tarcis Verfaillie, owner and Belgian native, went all the way to the source to create the best chocolate drink ever made. He compared all of the reputable chocolate drinks served in Brussels and Paris with one goal in mind: to make his even better. With the help of a specialty chef in chocolate, they selected and mixed the best possible combination of ingredients to achieve the taste and aroma of perfection.

With his new secret recipe in hand, Tarcis returned to LA ready to entice and delight his loyal customers.

Along with our Velvet Hot Chocolatt, we're now serving ice-blended Chocolatt drinks, Peerless Gourmet Coffees, www.peerlesscoffee.com, French croissants and homemade ice cream from Dandy Don, www.dandydonsicecream.com. With our seating both in and outdoors, you can enjoy our new extended hours: Monday through Fridays, 7.00am to 8.30pm, Saturday s, 9.00am to 8.30pm and Sundays, 9.00am to 5.00pm.

Come and check out our new line of products. See for yourself why Chocolatt ...from Belgium is the pride of the neighborhood.

February 14, 2004:

Valentine's Day was coming fast
He didn't want to wait till last
A chocolate gift for his dear wife
Would sure enhance his married life
So off he went to our sweet store
For Chocolatt....from Belgium and much more
When he arrived he looked around
Till the deepest, darkest heart was found
Then just as Tarcis tied the bow ~
Who walked in her face aglow?
Our dear man's Wife looked so surprised
And in a heart beat she surmised
The both of them shared one sweet thought
Chocolate Valentines were sought
He'd said he went to buy shampoo
And now she knew it wasn't true
So demurely she just looked away
There wasn't much that she could say
It seems great minds do think alike
As if they rode a tandem bike
He paid the charges, blew a kiss
And off he went in married bliss
It was her turn to make a choice
A gift to make her man rejoice
Their secret journeys brought them to
A place to pledge their love anew
The story of a love so sweet
Makes Valentines a special treat
Young at heart and full of grace

This poem is dedicated to Mr. and Mrs. Chopyak, Santa Monica, CA

Chocolatt...from Belgium featured in "Where LA Magazine" August edition

The beat goes on.! First, it was the "small bites" section in the August issue of Los Angeles Magazine (circulation 85,000). Then came the mention in Where LA Magazine's "Hot Tips Shopping" on page 12 this month. It's a safe bet to say that people across the US and quite possibly the world over- well, at least for those 52,000 visitors who luckily happened upon their Where LA Magazine all around town- have now heard of us.

"Orders are already coming in for the holiday season," says owner Tarcis Verfaillie. Have no fear, he adds, there are plenty of chocolates for all those special occasions between now and then. Rosh Hashanah, Halloween, Thanksgiving.

The beat does goes on. And a sweet beat it is.

Chocolatt...from Belgium proudly sponsors the United Nations Foundation
Spectacular masks and costumes. Horse-drawn carriages. Even a Cinderella or two! The Venetian Ball was held for its second time on May 8, 2003 at the Beverly Hilton and Chocolatt.from Belgium was there as one of its proud sponsors. The red carpet was out for the five hundred guests who came dressed in an array of historical and fictional characters. The night's entertainment included dancers and acrobats, singers and live music. The magnificent affair (a fundraiser for the United Nations Foundation in support of the children of the world) served our chocolates for dessert and tucked more of our delicious treats in the luxury gift bags the guests got to take home. And a good time was had by all.

April 5th, 2003:

A historic moment for Chocolatt.
Jos De Clercq, the Belgian Consulate in Los Angeles had heard of Chocolatt and today he dropped by to say hello. As a Consulate, one of his responsibilities is to keep abreast of Belgian exports to the US. We were honored that he and his wife paid us a visit. We look forward to seeing them again and perhaps extending our hand in making Chocolatt an ambassador for peace?

March 16th, 2003:

Our vision for the opening of Chocolatt was a lovely spring day; a quiet time to talk with friends and to greet new acquaintances who had come to support our grand venture...
Maybe the Santa Ana winds in full force had something to do with it? The turnout was tremendous. Two hours of leisurely chatting turned into three hours of non-stop buying. Even with three manning the counter, the line at times grew long. Not our master of ceremonies giving the opening speech, or the raffling off of goodies dampened the buying spree. Everybody seemed very intent on taking some chocolate home with them.
Our thanks to all of you who participated and made the day an unforgettable one.
